We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help during The Sandringham Festival of Carriage Driving. Whether you can spare three days or just half a day, we’d love to hear from you!
No experience with horses or carriage driving? No problem! All you need is a love for the outdoors and a passion for supporting a friendly competition.

Arena Steward - to ensure the competitors are ready to enter the arena (dressage -indicated by the Lead Judge and cones - where appropriate after the previous competitor has finished)
Score Collector - to collect scores (dressage/marathon) and return these to the Scorer's Caravan as soon as possible.
Obstacle Observers - observe competitors going through an obstacle, recording the route, timing the obstacle, recording information on a master sheet including route, time taken to complete the obstacle, any errors of course, hold ups. The Lead Steward is responsible for delegating tasks to the Obstacle Observers.
Start of Section Timekeepers - to ensure competitors are aware of their start times, countdown and record on master sheet the time they set off, ensure the competitor has completed their green card
End of Section Timekeepers - to record the time the competitors complete the section/marathon on the master sheet and fill in the green card - one to be kept by the timekeeper.
Road Crossing Steward - to ensure it is safe for competitors are safe to cross the road
Halt Steward - to liaise with the vet and record any information required to be passed to authorities.
Arena Steward - to ensure the competitors are ready to enter the arena (dressage -indicated by the Lead Judge and cones - where appropriate after the previous competitor has finished).
Cones steward - to observe the cones round and indicate if a ball is knocked down to the Commentator's box, measure and replace the ball on cone before the next competitor starts their round
Measuring Steward - to measure the width of the carriage once a competitor has completed their cones round
Score Collector - to collect scores (dressage/marathon) and return these to the Scorer's Caravan as soon as possible.
